President's Message — Mishka Clavijo Kimball, LMFT, CAMC Hope For 2021 "Someday, everything will make perfect sense. So for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, be strong and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason." — John Mayer As we begin 2021, I would like to reflect on the experiences lived during 2020. There are no words to describe it, 2020 really came and kicked us in the rear. But if you are reading this, it means you have survived a pandemic, the loss of the world as we knew it, racial and social injustices, the death of loved ones, U.S. elections, wars in other countries, such as Armenia, Syria, and Venezuela, and the list goes on. And yet, here you are, moving forward and beginning a new year with a new perspective, a new appreciation for life and for the small things we sometimes take for granted. We are beginning this year with an AWAKENING of the self. It is truly my honor to accept the role of president, and I am so excited to represent as the first ever Latina President of our chapter. I am incredibly proud and grateful to our chapter board and members, as you have all continued to support SFV-CAMFT and have supported each other during these trying times. I thank you for your patience and cooperation as we transitioned to virtual meetings and as we adjusted to the many changes. My vision for this year is to continue to promote diversity within our chapter and our community, to continue to grow our chapter and our connections and collaboration with others in the community, to offer resources to therapists and other mental health professionals, especially to those on the road to licensure, and to bring you new and fresh topics by a diverse roster of speakers. I look forward to what this year will bring, and I wish you much wellness, abundance, health, and stability. Let us continue to connect, support one another and heal together. I hope to see you again in person soon!
