Dennis Goldenson, AMFT

2023 Scholarship Recipient


Dennis Goldenson is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who earned his M.S. in Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy from California Lutheran University and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Dennis spent one year at the San Fernando Valley Counseling Center where he provided psychotherapy to culturally diverse individuals, couples and families, and a year with the Conejo Valley Unified School District working directly with Middle School students. Currently, Dennis is a Mental Health Therapist at Ventura College working with the local community college population in supporting their mental health needs and specializes in working with various populations and community programs including the Veterans Center, LGBTQIA+, and the athletics community developing outreach programs focused on mental health awareness, prevention and support. Dennis is also currently earning pre-licensed hours in a private practice working under the licensed supervision of Ariel Cohen, and specializes with children, adolescents and young adults. Dennis’ orientation models focus heavily on Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solutions Focused Therapy. Dennis brings a wealth of personal and professional life experiences which provides a unique perspective and opportunity to support clients going through various stages of their own life. His areas of interest include supporting the health and wellness needs of families, and counseling college-aged students going through transition to adulthood.
