Member Highlight — Shelley Horner, LMFT Katie Busse, MS, Registered AMFT Katie Busse, AMFT is a dedicated, caring therapist who enjoys helping teens, adults, and families learn to thrive. She originally was in college to become a veterinarian since she loves animals. To her dismay, she realized she was allergic to dogs, so she took another track. Katie then studied neurology and psychology at California State University, San Bernardino. Witnessing how psychotherapy helped her relatives and naturally being inspired to help others, she decided to become a therapist. Katie went to California State University, Northridge for a graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. During her traineeship at PUC schools, she found her joy in working with teens while helping them firsthand in a middle and high school setting. She continued to help adolescents through her associateships at Engage treatment programs and Teen Therapy Center in Woodland Hills. She has experience working with a variety of challenges such as anxiety and depression, as well as suicidality and self-harm. She more specifically focuses on helping teens and young adults trying to manage the stress related to high achievement and perfectionism or those looking to regulate anger and other strong emotions. Katie has finished her associate hours and will take the clinical exam soon to obtain her license. She is working in private practice, (supervised by Tamika Mazariego, LMFT), doing telehealth exclusively due to the Coronavirus. She states that “Telehealth gets rid of barriers such as scheduling problems and offers a unique view into the lives of clients.”
Shelley Horner, LMFT, enjoys writing the our Member Profile section since she likes getting to know her colleagues in depth. She is an actress, speaker and therapist. |
