FCC Approves Plan for National Suicide Hotline Short-Code Similar to 9-1-1. "Help is available, and it can be effective," said FCC Chair Ajit Pai. "Experts predict that it will result in millions more Americans receiving the intervention services they desperately need." Telecom companies would have to implement the short-code, currently proposed to be 9-8-8, by July 16, 2022.
