Bi-monthly, we issue a “Call for Articles” for our SFV-CAMFT Connections! newsletter to the Board and Officers, as well as a few selected columnists. Additionally, each issue we accept 3-5 articles from our members (SFV-CAMFT chapter and reciprocity chapters LA and SGV), as space allows.
All articles will be reviewed by our editorial staff for content and writing expertise and chosen based on space availability and suitability for a particular issue. Should we have more than the allowed number of accepted member-submitted articles, we will carry those articles into a future issue. We do reserve the right to edit the content of articles or refuse any material. Due to the enormous amount of work and time constraints involved in publishing Connections!, proofing of final content will be done only by our staff. We will contact only those whose articles are accepted for publication.
Connections! reaches over 2,800 recipients in the therapist community.
Below is the information you will need to submit an article:
Connections! is a bi-monthly publication and is published six times a year on January 1st, March 1st, May 1st, July 1st, September 1st and November 1st. All submissions (articles/copy/photos/notices) must be received no later than the 20th of the month, prior to the issue date, in order to allow the editor ample time to make edits and prepare to submit to the publisher. For example, information for the January 1st publication of the January-February issues is due December 20th.
There is no word limit for articles (though the preference is 1000 words or less) and very little editing of your content will take place, with the exception of spelling and grammar. We ask that your article be related in some way to marriage and family therapy or psychotherapy, be it membership, special events, member-centric news and information, Board and committee announcements, law and ethics, practice management or articles of human interest relating to therapy. If you are unsure of your topic, please submit it and we will review it for publication. Should you include copyrighted content (quotes, images, etc.), please attach the appropriate attribution.
We ask that you also submit a “bio-tagline” of no more than 75 words and a portrait-styled photograph (unless we already have these from a previous submission). If you would like to add your preferred pronouns, please do so by including them in your bio-tagline. Neither the content of articles nor bio-taglines may be self-promoting. You can, however, list your qualifications, and a web and/or email address in your bio-tagline.
We are always looking for good articles to share with our membership! If you have an article you would like to submit once, have ideas and want to become a regular columnist, or have questions, please contact us with any questions or submit your article and photo via email.
