"Working with Dissociative Identity Disorder?"
Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is very often misdiagnosed or not taken seriously. Many clients complain that they were diagnosed as bipolar, borderline, schizophrenic, etc when in reality they have a dissociative disorder. This presentation will help you understand what DID is and how to assess for it in your clients.
Learning Objectives
In successfully completing and attending this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Describe what Dissociation is.
- Identify at least 2 symptoms of dissociation.
- Identify at least 2 alter systems in DID.
- Identify at least 2 treatment strategies when working with DID
Presenter:
Cristina Mardirossian, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist as well as an Attachment Focused EMDR Certified therapist in private practice in Pasadena, CA. She is trained in Brainspotting, The Havening Techniques, TF-CBT, and is certified in the Trauma Resiliency Module. She has provided outpatient individual and group therapy throughout the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley areas to teens and adults on a variety of issues, ranging from trauma, dissociative disorders, anxiety, depression, codependency issues, etc. Cristina's private practice focuses on working with trauma survivors, predominately sexual abuse survivors and dissociative disorders. Cristina runs several groups for sexual abuse survivors as well, for both men and women.

This course is intended for beginning to advanced mental health professionals.
Course meets the qualifications for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. CEU completion certificates will be awarded when participants complete the course evaluation after speaker presentation.

Refund Policy
Requests for refunds must be in writing and received by SFV-CAMFT before one week prior to the event. A $2 administrative fee will be deducted for cancellation of a paid event, through the cancellation deadline. There will be no refunds on requests received after one week prior to the event. The President has discretion to issue refunds that do not comply with the policy. To request a refund, email sfv.camft@gmail.com.
