"Anti-Group Resistance in Group Therapy: How to turn Destructive

Forces into Developmental Progress"

Note:  Presented on Zoom.

This course will provide education on the resistances that arise in  group therapy (termed the “Anti-Group” by Dr. Morris Nitsun). Through lecture, discussion and experiential learning you will learn about these destructive forces in group and how you can harness them to bring about their creative potential.

Educational goals include increasing ability to identify the destructive forces in group, improving clinical skills for working with destructive forces, and preparing clinicians for coping with strong feelings in groups.

Learning Objectives

In successfully completing and attending this presentation, participants will be able to:

    1. Explain the 3 core components of Dr. Nitsun’s theory of the anti-group.
    2. Identify 4 indications of anti-group resistance.
    3. List 5 contributors to anti-group resistance.
    4. Describe 5 interventions to promote creative outcomes in groups.
