"Working with Creative Populations"

In this workshop, Mrs. Taris will articulate the stages of healing and how to apply them when working with people in general as well as working with people in various creative fields in particular. Mrs. Taris will also cover some of the underlying reasons creatives may present for therapy, as it relates to your field specialty, and what clinicians can do to help guide them toward their goals without compromising their health, relationships, and well-being. Mrs. Taris will help clinicians discover how to help their clients identify areas where their stages of development may have been interrupted and how to bring healing to those areas.
Learning Objectives
In successfully completing and attending this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Identify the seven stages of healing and their impact on client progress.
- Demonstrate the primary role of psychoeducation in the healing process to the client.
- Identify the three ways for helping clients discover their levels of stress.
- Learn to utilize 3 tools to help decrease client stress and use stages of development in the healing process.
Presenter:
Tracy Taris, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. She is president and owner of Healing The Mind & Spirit, Inc. where she leads a team of counselors. Her group practice is located here in the Santa Clarita Valley where psychotherapy services are provided in the form of couples, family, individual, adolescent and child therapy as well as coaching services that cover a variety of topics from creative blocks, nutritional problems, and women’s issues.
Tracy holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with and emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcasting from California Polytechnic State University.
Tracy completed her service as President for the Santa Clarita Valley California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists Chapter as well as her role in serving as Past President for the organization. Tracy is also a writer and has contributed to The Signal Newspaper as well as written workshops that she has taught for The City of Santa Clarita through the Seasons Catalog, her Private Practice, and for COC.

This course is intended for beginning to advanced mental health professionals.
Course meets the qualifications for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Course evaluations will be sent and CE completion certificates will be awarded to participants that attend the entire presentation and complete the course evaluation within 48 hours of the speaker presentation.

Refund Policy
Requests for refunds must be in writing and received by SFV-CAMFT before one week prior to the event. A $2 administrative fee will be deducted for cancellation of a paid event, through the cancellation deadline. There will be no changes or cancellations received after one week prior to the event. The President has discretion to issue refunds that do not comply with the policy. To request a refund, email sfv.camft@gmail.com.
