"How Sexuality Influences the Clinical Picture for Female Clients - Webinar"


In this workshop, we will be using the biopsychosocial model, Dr. Kennedy will describe how various factors influence client’s confidence, performance and interpersonal strategies to get their sexual needs met. Sexuality is layered and complex. It is also often all but ignored in the clinical sphere. In this highly interactive presentation, Jenn will discuss the most common issues that arise in the sexual realm and offer insight about how to discuss sex and intimacy with female clients.

Using the biopsychorelational model, Dr. Kennedy will describe how various factors influence client’s confidence, performance and interpersonal strategies to get their sexual needs met. She will also address unique diversity issues that arise for LGBT women around their sexuality.

Learning Objectives

In successfully completing and attending this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and assess 4 female sexual presenting issues
  2. Identify 3-4 factors that influence female sexuality
  3. Identify 2-3 unique factors affecting lesbian/queer sexuality
  4. Identify 2-3 theories or clinical approaches to address clients seeking sex therapy

Presenter:

Jennifer Kennedy, PhD Sexologist, LMFT, is a clinical sexologist and licensed marriage and family therapist based in Santa Barbara. In her private practice, Dr. Jenn sees couples and individuals in the areas of relationships, sex, addiction and LGBT. In 2019, she founded her clinical group practice, Riviera Therapy, and under this umbrella, she employs licensed clinicians and supervises up-and-coming clinicians. 

In 2023, Dr. Jenn launched The Pleasure Project, which is dedicated to helping us all have a better sex life.  Through this venture, Dr. Jenn hosts a podcast called Pleasure Project: Sex & Relationships and she offers small group intensives for women and couples. She is coming out with an asynchronous course in 2025.

Dr. Jenn has been quoted in Redbook, Reader’s Digest, Forbes Health, DailyOm, Shondaland, Parade, Allure, Yahoo!life and others. She is often tapped to discuss intimacy and sexuality for therapists and physicians.

This course is intended for beginning to advanced mental health professionals.

Course meets the qualifications for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Course evaluations will be sent and CE completion certificates will be awarded to participants that attend the entire presentation and complete the course evaluation within 48 hours of the speaker presentation.

Refund Policy 

Requests for refunds must be in writing and received by SFV-CAMFT before one week prior to the event. A $2 administrative fee will be deducted for cancellation of a paid event, through the cancellation deadline. There will be no changes or cancellations received after one week prior to the event (this includes No shows and arriving late to the presentation on the day of the event). The President has discretion to issue refunds that do not comply with the policy. To request a refund, email sfv.camft@gmail.com.
