SFV-CAMFT Outreach Committee
invites you to a free social event.
We cordially invite everyone in the San Fernando Valley community to a free social event at the 'Old Zoo in Griffith Park'. The Independent Shakespeare LA company presents:
As You Like it, by William Shakespeare
Fall in love this summer with our As You Like It, a screwball romantic comedy with songs inspired by 1930’s crooner, Al Bowlly.
Irrepressible cousins, Rosalind and Celia, fall afoul of the Duke, and make their escape into the Forest of Arden. There, they discover a world of vivid characters and romantic possibilities. When class and gender boundaries shatter, they discover both themselves and a beguiling truth: transformation is always possible.
Sunday, August 25, 2024

History:
Eastlake Zoo, opened in Eastlake Park in 1885 (it was renamed Lincoln Park in 1917). The second zoo, Griffith Park Zoo, opened in 1912 and was located about two miles (3.2 km) south of the current zoo until it was closed in August 1966. Its animals were transferred to the new Los Angeles Zoo approximately two miles away, which opened in November 1966. The animal enclosures, with bars removed, were left as ruins; picnic benches or tables were installed in some of them for park visitors.
Shake out your picnic blankets, gather your friends, and get ready for a summer of Shakespeare in Griffith Park!
This is a great opportunity to meet chapter members, network with other therapists, mingle in a more intimate setting, and get to connect with more colleagues. We hope you can join us!
Parking:
Located right off the 5 Freeway, you will want to enter the Griffith Park area (free) and proceed to the parking lot for the merry-go-round. If you proceed past the merry-go-round, till the parking lot ends, then it is a short 5-minute walk up from the lot to the zoo.
Ample free parking is available. Look for the hot pink signs directing you to the parking lots near the Merry-Go-Round. Parking lot 2 is the closest to the performance site, but be prepared for a bit of a walk up a hill.
